The Association is made up of enthusiastic Kent College parents who are appointed to the Committee annually and who meet formally at least once every school term. The Committee includes a Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer, and seeks to have representatives from parents of each school year.
The KCPPA is a registered charity and aims to develop an effective relationship between the staff, parents and others associated with the school. The Association also raises funds through events for 'school extras' to enrich the lives of the students and which support the school's development.
All existing and former parents, whether they have been a part of the Parents' Association or not, are invited to become members of the 'Friends of Kent College' Association, which enables them to stay connected to the school even if their daughter has left.
The Committee arranges a series of events to raise funds for facilities and equipment for the school which complement and enhance those provided by the school itself. These events are also an opportunity for the school to celebrate the students' talents as well as for parents to get to know one another. While they include fun events such as balls, fashion shows, quiz evenings and flower workshops, they also include lectures by outside speakers on topics of social importance, such as anger management, as well as experiences of personal achievement to educate and inspire both parents and students. Other parents who are not on the Committee assist in these events and their contribution is invaluable to the running of the Association.

On Thursday 23rd March, 2017, the KCPPA hosted their first ever Italian evening and the Organ Room was transformed into an Italian kitchen and restaurant, with delicious aromas and Pavarotti singing quietly in the background.
We were fortunate enough to have Julie Friend from the Hungry Guest come in to talk to us about Italian cooking, explain about the different regions and specialities in Italy and to demonstrate some quick and tasty supper recipes which we were then able to taste. All totally delicious!
Julie won BBC Masterchef in 1997 and has since run her own successful delicatessens in London before coming to Kent in 2014. She has spent a lot of time in Italy and was able to share her passion and wealth of experience with the KC community. She currently manages the Hungry Guest in West Malling and brought some of their delicious produce for purchase at the end of the evening. Fresh pestos, olive oils, preserves and passatas, sundried tomatoes and much more.
Julie was ably assisted by one of our very own old girls, Floss Henderson, who is currently working at the Hungry Guest and learning from this great chef.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening and were asking when the next one would be…….maybe an Asian influenced evening……or French? Watch this space.
Meanwhile, “Mille Grazi” to Julie & Floss and to all who supported our event. Happy cooking everyone!
Billed as The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for MacMillan Cancer Support, the KC community took the opportunity to put two things together that we are passionate about; enjoying a slice of cake, and fundraising. We are delighted to announce that over the course of the morning we raised in excess of £300!
On Thursday July 2nd, the coach left Kent College at 9.30am bound for Hampton Court Flower show….a first time event for the KCPPA and so successful that it sold out very quickly. The weather looked threatening as we approached the Palace, but after a light shower the day remained dry and bright. Hampton Court Palace is a spectacular back-drop for this event and just walking through the Palace’s gardens to get to the show was a treat! The main show gardens were a sight to behold, but there were also a huge number of pretty and innovative smaller gardens and numerous stands selling everything you could possible imagine you could ever need for your garden. The Rose Pavilion and main Flower Pavilion had every plant and flower imagineable and the displays were amazing. The bandstands had some great music playing during the day and there were countless different places to eat and drink. There was so much to see and do, the day passed very quickly. Tired, but very happy, the bus departed at 6 – full to the gunnels with plants galore and some BIG ideas for our gardens in Kent! A very successful and enjoyable day for all and many thanks to Amanda Mays for all her hard work in organizing such a successful day out. Thank you also to everyone for supporting the occasion. We hope to repeat this event in the future.
On Friday 1st May 2015, the KCPPA once again held a Beauty Evening for the girls and their Mothers. Exhibitors included Hair by McQueens, make-up by No 6 Clinic and Shop, Urban Decay, Reiki massage, Crystal Therapy and Nails by Tipz and Toez. A personal stylist was on hand to advise colours and styles and some lovely clothes by Mini Maya were also on sale. A good evening was had by all and some very beautiful people left happy and relaxed at the end of the evening. Thank you to all who participated and attended the event. Also many thanks to my committee members for all their help with the organization, setting up and clearing away. All the exhibitors were very complimentary and said they would happily come to the next event!
On the evening of 10th December, 2014, the dining-room at Kent College Senior School was transformed into a hive of activity as the KCPPA hosted their annual Christmas Wreath making workshop. Under the expert tuition of Helen Ashton (a former KC parent and florist extraordinaire) 20 ladies took a couple of hours out of their busy schedules to create some wonderfully festive wreaths to adorn their doors over the Christmas period. Helen kindly led the evening with useful instruction and helpful tips for everyone so that, after two hours of intense activity – interrupted only by the odd glass of mulled wine and a cheeky mince pie - we all came away with a beautiful hand-made unique Christmas wreath. The wreaths were all very personal and made with real flowers and foliage collected from our very own grounds. They all looked glorious and lasted well past the 25th. The evening was pronounced a great success and we hope to hold it again next year. Thank you to all those who helped with the planning, setting up, clearing away and of course to all those who participated and came to support. We look forward to welcoming you to the next one.
We had 36 people come along this year -mainly senior school parents and there were mores couples this year too. The sun shone which was great and about half of the group brought along a picnic to have by the coach before we went into the Grandstand. The Queen’s horse did not win the Gold Cup this year but we watched her present the cup which was great. The Royal procession was as ever worth watching. Most of us had a few winners which made the day even more special. The day ended after a sing song around the band stand.
The annual KCPPA Beauty Evening was a great success again this year with many girls, along with their mums and sisters, joining in with staff to enjoy the array of beauty products and treatments from local beauty and fashion businesses.
125th Anniversary Victorian Ball: July 2012
As part of the school's 125th Anniversary year, the end of term closed with a spectacular Victorian themed Summer Ball organised by the Senior and Prep School Parents' Associations on Saturday 7th July.
The Sports Hall was transformed into an opulent world of Victoriana with deep red velvet, gold leaf palm trees, beautiful red roses and gilded bird cages decorating the tables. Over 250 guests were in attendance and on arrival were greeted by a set of Victorian Strong Men acrobat artists who led guests to their tables following the champagne reception in the Theatre. Other Victorian themed entertainment included a fabulous magician and silhouette artist who entertained guests at their tables throughout the evening.
A raffle was held with prizes donated by parents and local businesses with over £1,600 being raised for Demelza Hospice. Guests were able to have professional photographs taken in front of a glamorous Victorian backdrop and enjoyed the opportunity to enjoy the lounge area made up of velvet thrones.
The evening was opened by an address from actor Tony Haygarth, known for various TV and Theatre performances (most notably from 'Where the Heart is') and guests enjoyed a Victorian themed dinner including a delicious hog roast. The evening was rounded off with dancing into the early hours and a fantastic firework display over the school grounds was accompanied by port and the cutting of the anniversary cake.
The evening was a wonderful occasion and a fitting way to pay tribute to Kent College's special year and to thank the school's parents and friends for their continuous and much appreciated support.
On Friday the 6th May the KCPPA hosted its third Being Beautiful Evening, where mums, girls and KC staff were able to be pampered and preened by a wide range of beauty experts. As well as the more usual Make-up Artists, Hairdressers and Beauty Therapists, Acupuncture, Eyebrow Threading and Hydrothermal massage was also on offer.
The dining room was full of all the hustle and bustle of a market square on a Saturday afternoon, many stalls were very busy, so much so that some commented that they will be bringing more consultants, therapists and massage beds with them for any future events. One of the main draws of the evening was Face2Face photography. Our very own Kent College parent Katey Holford took some fantastic make-over studio shots of the girls with their friends and mums, which can be viewed on her website and are available to purchase. All in all the evening was yet another enjoyable, resounding success
On Saturday 3rd July the Kent College Parents' Association held a Moroccan extravaganza Summer ball with Moroccan furnishings, a themed menu and lots of dancing. A super night was had by all, the perfect way to celebrate the end of the school year!
On Friday 23rd April the KCPPA hosted their second Beauty Evening for the girls and mums at Kent College.
Stall holders Mac, Co Co Blush, Garbos Hair, Twenty Skincare amongst many others had a very busy evening. Enthusiastic girls were pampered, preened and made over and some went on to have fantastic photos taken by KT Holford of Face2Face photography.
All in all it was a very successful evening. Definitely not one to be missed!
